HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — President Trump says the American worker is back on top. At his rally in Northern Kentucky on Saturday, he told the crowd that “more Americans are working today than at any time in the history of our country.”
And he said it happened while Washington got leaner. “That’s despite the fact that we let go of, as gently as we could, over one million federal employees,” the President said. “They hate me, but now they like me. You know why? They’ve all gone out and gotten private sector jobs for much more money, and they like the job.”
Trump said the federal government had become bloated. “We had 10 people doing one job. We had situations where there was one job and we had 10 people hanging around doing one job,” he said. “And we need absolutely federal people, but we don’t need 10 for every job.”
“So I let over a million go,” Trump said. “And these numbers are phenomenal despite that.” A smaller government and a growing private sector: that is how the Golden Age economy works for working families. Watch the President in the video above.
