WASILLA, Alaska — Energy pipelines get the headlines. High-speed internet keeps the Last Frontier connected. On Tuesday night President Donald J. Trump put both on the scoreboard — announcing that FCC Chairman Brendan Carr informed him the Commission will vote this month to invest an additional $162 million to expand high-speed internet in Alaska.

“For years, @SenDanSullivan has worked with my Administration to support rural broadband for Alaska,” the President said. “He’s brought high-speed Internet to hundreds of thousands of people in the state. And today we’re joined by FCC Chairman Brendan Carr.” Then the win: the FCC will vote this month on the extra $162 million.

Carr took the mic and made the America First pledge plain. He has been to Unalaska and seen the “no service” reality. With Sen. Sullivan, he said, hundreds of millions have already flowed and thousands are newly connected — “but the job’s not done.” The commitment: work until every single person in Alaska is connected to high-speed internet.

That is infrastructure with a Golden Age backbone — LNG, Railbelt power, and broadband so Patriots from the Railbelt to the Aleutians can work, learn, and thrive. Watch Rapid Response 47’s video of the $162 million Alaska broadband announcement.
