FAIRBANKS, Alaska — The Golden Age barnstorm reaches the Last Frontier. On Monday, October 5, 2026, Vice President JD Vance boarded Air Force Two at Joint Base Andrews for his first-ever trip to Alaska, where he headlines a Midterm Rally for Sen. Dan Sullivan at the Omni Logistics Hangar in Fairbanks. Doors open at 2:15 p.m. Alaska time, and the event begins at 4:30 p.m., or 7:30 p.m. Central.
“Looking forward to going to Alaska and campaigning for Dan Sullivan, a really great guy, a Marine Corps veteran, and just somebody we really, really need to keep in the United States Senate,” Vance told reporters before takeoff. It is a family trip, too. “This is Usha’s 50th state, which is why we are bringing a 9-week-old baby on a 7½-hour flight to Alaska,” he said. “So, if I give a speech tonight and I look haggard and stressed out, that’s exactly why.”
Vance did not let Sullivan’s opponent, Democrat Mary Peltola, rewrite her record. Asked about Peltola’s claim that she does not support biological men competing in women’s sports, after voting for it in the House, he said Democrats now realize that voters do not like “the woke era.” “Don’t judge Mary by what she’s saying in the final six weeks of the Senate campaign,” Vance said. “You’ve got to judge her by what she actually did. And the reality is that she did support a lot of radical Democrat policies, including men in women’s sports.”
He also stood behind President Trump’s Alaska LNG push. On September 30, the President announced in the Oval Office that South Korea would invest $54 billion in the long-awaited pipeline. “The pipeline is something that we really want to see happen and a lot of our Asian friends want to see happen as well,” Vance said. “It’s not just the South Koreans. The Japanese would love to see this pipeline.” He added, “I think it’s something that’s going to happen. … When there’s a demand for this stuff, and there really is strong demand for American natural gas, I think we’re going to be able to get it done.”
Alaska’s News Source reports that Sullivan, Rep. Nick Begich, and Republican candidates for governor Bernadette Wilson, Dave Bronson, and Treg Taylor are all expected at tonight’s rally.
