President Trump made no apologies on Wednesday for the decision that kept the world’s top sponsor of terror from getting the bomb. “I think it’s one of the greatest things we’ve done,” the President told reporters on the South Lawn before leaving for South Carolina. “We’ve stopped Iran from having a nuclear weapon. It’s one of the best things that we’ve done.”

Trump said it came down to courage. “It took a lot of courage to do it, because no other president was willing to do it,” he said. “And if we didn’t do it, Iran would right now have already used massive nuclear weapons.” Earlier in the same exchange, he said the United States has “decimated Iran,” adding, “We’ve beaten Iran, we continue to beat Iran.”

The pressure did not let up on Wednesday. As part of Operation Economic Outcast, the Treasury Department sanctioned Karnakis and Karnakis, a law firm based in Panama and Greece that Treasury says spent years registering the shell companies behind shadow fleet ships moving hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of Iranian steel, petroleum and petrochemicals. Treasury says the firm built the corporate structure for the shipping empire of Iranian gas magnate Seyed Asadoollah Emamjomeh, and that one of its companies fronted for a Syrian firm selling Iranian oil for the IRGC-Qods Force and the Houthis.

Treasury also designated five people tied to the firm, the ship manager Roxette Maritime and seven of its cargo vessels, and two shipping agents, Amigoz Singapore and Dubai-based Whales Shipping Line, along with two Whales support vessels. FinCEN issued its first-ever administrative subpoena under the Bank Secrecy Act to dig into a Greek bank’s possible ties to Iran.

“Whether you are conducting illegal oil transfers at sea or sitting in the corner office of a law firm, if you are supporting the Iranian regime, we will find you and sanction you,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said. “Iran’s facilitators must make a choice: Either you are with us or against us. We know who you are, we know what you’re doing, and we will continue to take action.”
