President Donald J. Trump made the case for Washington’s arch late Monday night, and took a shot at the radical left in Paris while he was at it. “59 Cities throughout the World have a Triumphal Arch,” the President wrote on Truth Social. “Washington, D.C., is the only one that doesn’t. With the Arc de Triomphe, in Paris, under siege by the Radical Left Lunatics who have taken over the country, we will assume only 58 remain!” Rapid Response 47 shared the post at 11:01 PM Central.

The point is simple. The capital of the greatest nation in history has no triumphal arch, while dozens of cities around the world do. The President has shown off a model of the proposed arch in the Oval Office, and he has pushed to give America’s capital a monument worthy of the country.

The jab at Paris follows days of unrest in France. On Monday, before leaving for Kansas, President Trump said France’s trouble comes from open borders. People were let in “that don’t love their country,” he said. “They don’t love their buildings. They don’t love their art.” That evening in Park City, Kansas, he warned that “burning steeples and raging fires in France” are “what the radical Democrats want to do to America.”

The President has heard the protests against the arch and is not moved. Asked about them earlier this month, he said: “They’re all paid protesters — the same people that protested [the ballroom], the same people that protested [the helipad]. I’m used to protests; I think I do pretty well. They’re just scammers.”

Other nations are letting their monuments burn. President Trump wants to build one. America’s 250th year is the right time to do it.
