NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Volunteer State is out front in the war on fraud. Gov. Bill Lee announced Thursday that he was “honored to lead @RGA members to support the anti-fraud pledge,” adding that he is “grateful for @JDVance’s leadership in the fight to protect American taxpayers.” His bottom line: “Fraud against taxpayers is unacceptable, & every level of government has a responsibility to prevent it.”
The Republican Governors Association announced that GOP governors are backing Vice President Vance’s Pledge to Protect Americans from Fraud, listing 22 signatories — Lee of Tennessee alongside Kay Ivey (AL), Mike Dunleavy (AK), Sarah Sanders (AR), Brad Little (ID), Mike Braun (IN), Kim Reynolds (IA), Jeff Landry (LA), Tate Reeves (MS), Mike Kehoe (MO), Greg Gianforte (MT), Jim Pillen (NE), Joe Lombardo (NV), Kelly Armstrong (ND), Mike DeWine (OH), Kevin Stitt (OK), Henry McMaster (SC), Larry Rhoden (SD), Greg Abbott (TX), Spencer Cox (UT), Patrick Morrisey (WV), and Mark Gordon (WY).
The Vice President laid out the six promises: protect vulnerable Americans such as the elderly, indigent, and disabled from fraudsters; make sure taxpayer-funded programs serve law-abiding Americans, not illegal aliens or fraudsters; keep benefits from buying fraudsters mansions or luxury cars; stop fraud “before payments go out the door”; imprison convicted fraudsters and bar them “from ever receiving another penny of taxpayer dollars”; and promptly arrest, prosecute, imprison, and deport illegal alien fraudsters.
The pledge says hardworking Americans’ generosity “has been abused and exploited by fraudsters, illegal aliens, and corrupt bureaucrats,” and that previous administrations “turned a blind eye.” Cabinet leaders including HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz, HUD Secretary Scott Turner, and SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler signed on Thursday too. With early voting underway through Oct. 29, Tennesseans can see their governor standing with the America First team for every taxpayer dollar. Watch the White House Fraud Task Force video.
